Stop killing your back!

Sometimes it is just the simple things and quite sure that Doctor (Brother) Christian would agree since he is a DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) and will see injuries of this nature day in and out!

But, detailing your Skiff (much less your SUV or Tuck) can be a pain bent over working on it much less the lower parts of the hull. So, here is a great idea so you can tackle projects like this without killing your back as much, and that is the use of a small chair with wheels that you can adjust the height upon, that does not have any arms...

roller chair

Now, we all have used buckets, stools, and chairs with no height adjustments that cannot roll around without any back support...

Skiff Hull

Those are great IF you are a teenager, I guess... But for us in the "8 Track Tribe" and as we say here in the South... "That Dog just doesn't hunt" And taking a few seconds to lean back to inspect things as you are working on that section comes in very handy!

So, one like the chair above (some are not that expensive) helps you stay on task, and helps you move around (without over-extending to reach something) until you can then go and jump into the Hot Tub and boil away all the lower back pain 😉

Another related tip that I have personally found when doing chores like this, is to stay very Hydrated! Many times, I will have a big fan blowing on me when doing chores like these, and just don't feel as hot or even thirsty and then it hits. Later, I go to move or stand up and have collapsed from lower back pain and spasms... Just drink your fuel of choice (I like the sugar-free, type of athletic drinks) and keep drinking even if you are not thirsty! Usually, I have found that by the time I am thirsty, it is way too late for me personally and now way behind the 8 ball and will take many hours to recover not from being tired per se, but just dehydrated and in a ton of pain as I slowly recover from such.

Anything to help keep from having to pop even more painkillers that over time, some suspects do as much harm on the inside as good 😉

In the meantime,
