As we kick off 2026, the Indian River Lagoon is once again front and center—where tradition meets tangible progress.
In the latest One Lagoon, Once Voice newsletter, leaders from the IRL National Estuary Program lay out priorities for the first quarter, from securing federal support to spotlighting the lagoon’s economic value and celebrating community-driven habitat wins. Dive in for a snapshot of what’s ahead for one of Florida’s most treasured waterways.

You can access the full Q1 2026 One Lagoon IRL Newsletter by clicking here. Dr. De Freese also provides valuable insights and tips on how you can effectively prevent excess nutrients and chemicals from entering the Indian River Lagoon as well as other areas in our Great State!
We are also working on a show with Dr. De Freese where we will cover a wide range of subjects on the IRLNEP with some I am sure, have cross applications in other areas of our State as well as other parts of the World, when it comes to showing the huge economic benefits areas like these actually provide.
Now, the genesis of the show idea with the IRLNEP was started from this one below you may (also) enjoy that I had with Chris Peterson of Hell's Bay Boatworks on Conservation not long ago.
And if you are not familiar with the IRLNEP here is a past show they put together to help you become more aware of their mission and work.
