As Tarpon Season approaches I wanted to give a shout out to everyone and let them know that places to stay are starting to reopen on the beaches and of course, the mainland was not affected by the Hurricanes back in October around Tampa Bay. Restaurants and other places of business have also begun reopening; so there should be no hardships if you are planning a vacation to the area.
Right now the sight fishing for Redfish and large Seatrout in the shallows has been the go-to. For blind fishing the deeper flats have been yielding 60+ fish days of assorted fish for all fly skill levels and spin fishermen.
As we move into spring I expect a good Mackerel, Bonito and Triple Tail run along with all the usual local species. An early warm-up will put big migratory Tarpon in the area and it's possible some years to see some fish as early as the end or March or mid April.
